Gov. Evers: Releases statement responding to Speaker Vos

Contact: GovPress@wisconsin.gov MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today released the following statement in response to a press release sent by Speaker Robin Vos earlier today. “Elected officials can—and often do—disagree on plenty. But what is beneath the offices we hold and the responsibility entrusted to us is using our platforms to publicly and baselessly disparage and singularly belittle public servants. “From our clerks and election administrators to members of the Wisconsin National Guard to Wisconsin Elections Commission staff, hundreds rolled up their sleeves last year, and it is because of them Wisconsin held a free, safe, and fair election last November.

Main Street Alliance Wisconsin: Position on restaurant revitalization fund tax conformity

Main Street Alliance strongly supports LRB 4757–income and franchise tax exemption for restaurant revitalization grants. We urge co-sponsorship by members of the state legislature on this important proposal.  We are still experiencing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and over 2/3 of restaurants still haven’t received RRF funds. For those who have let’s ensure they can bounce back and not make it harder for one of the most impacted industries to fully recover.

MADISON – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly Committee on State Affairs and the Senate Committee on Government Operations, Legal Review and Consumer Protection held a joint public hearing on Republican-authored bills to redraw our legislative maps (AB 625 and AB 624). Rep. Jodi Emerson (D-Eau Claire) released the following statement in response: “I was deeply disappointed to see the unfair maps the GOP introduced last week. The new maps are just a slightly retooled version of the current ones,

On Tuesday, a City housing inspector was shot and injured in her car while on the job after a suspect approached her with a gun. Thankfully, the injuries sustained were not life threatening, and we wish her a speedy recovery. No one should have to fear for their life while at their place of work, and we vehemently denounce this act of violence aimed at a public servant who was working to improve her community. As a Council, we will continue to do everything we can to ensure that City employees are safe while in neighborhoods performing their necessary duties.
