Less than a year ago, Johnson admitted that “undermining” COVID-19 vaccines “will cause people’s deaths” — now, it’s practically all that he does

A new report from CNN highlights that U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson’s 10-month campaign against COVID-19 vaccines is a dishonest and politically-motivated sham — underscored by the fact that Johnson in October 2020 told a radio host that “undermining” COVID vaccines “will cause people’s deaths.”

It’s horrifying that Ron Johnson has been pushing COVID-19 vaccine skepticism for months, despite being fully aware that he’s putting lives at risk,” said Brad Bainum, American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson. “And it’s not the first time this has happened: on issue after issue—from jobs and COVID relief, to climate change and health care—Johnson has repeatedly stretched the truth while working against Wisconsin families’ best interests.”

CNN: Ron Johnson said last fall that undermining the Covid vaccine “will cause people’s deaths.” Now he spreads anti-vaccine misinformation

By Andrew Kaczynski, 9/9/21

Key Points:

  • “Republican Sen. Ron Johnson has repeatedly spread anti-vaccine misinformation. But just last year, the Wisconsin senator attacked Democrats on the issue, saying that undermining confidence in a vaccine for Covid-19 would cost deaths.”

  • “Johnson made his comments in October 2020 on Wisconsin local radio…”

  • “Johnson has been the subject of repeated fact checks from CNN’s fact checking team over misinformation he has spread throughout the pandemic. He has falsely suggested the Covid vaccine has caused thousands of deaths and has argued against the campaign to vaccinate most Americans.”
