The American Federation for Children Action fund spent $56,500 on digital ads opposing Pecatonica School Superintendent Jill Underly, according to its filing with the Ethics Commission.

The ad calls Underly the hand-picked candidate of the teachers’ unions.

The spot focuses on schools not being open to in-person instruction with the narrator saying “hundreds of thousands of students across the state are still locked out and “it’s harming our children.” The narrator says too many Wisconsin kids “are getting left behind” because the “teachers’ unions have a stranglehold on our schools.”

The spot concludes, “Vote against their hand-picked candidate Jill Underly, and let’s get our kids back in the classroom.”

WEAC also filed an independent expenditure report with the Ethics Commission showing it spent $955 on robocalls backing Underly. The union endorsed Underly ahead of the Feb. 16 primary.
