MADISON — Today, State Sen. LaTonya Johnson (Milwaukee) and State Rep. Steve Doyle (Onalaska) endorsed Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes and his historic campaign for U.S. Senate.
State Senator LaTonya Johnson said:
“I’m so excited to endorse Mandela Barnes and his historic campaign for the U.S. Senate. I’ve worked with Mandela day in and day out, and I know what a tenacious, compassionate, and thoughtful leader he is for Milwaukee and all communities across Wisconsin.
“Mandela is fearless. He’s taken on the corporate special interests to tackle climate change and defend voting rights. And I know he’ll be relentless in his efforts to change the game in Washington.
“Mandela is committed to making the wealthy pay their fair share so that we can invest in our shared infrastructure, expand access to affordable health care, and create good-paying jobs in communities across Wisconsin. Mandela Barnes is the best candidate to defeat Ron Johnson, and he’s the leader working Wisconsinites need in Washington.”
State Representative Steve Doyle said:
“I am proud to endorse Mandela Barnes for the U.S. Senate. I’ve seen firsthand what a relentless fighter Mandela is for people from every corner of this state. From farmers to factory workers, no one works harder for the people of Wisconsin.
“In the Senate, I know we can count on Mandela to fight for small businesses and family farms, bring back critical investments for local infrastructure, and ensure everyone has access to the quality, affordable health care they deserve.
“Wisconsinites in Onalaska, La Crosse, and across our state are coming together to support Mandela Barnes, because they know he is the best candidate to take on Ron Johnson and deliver for working Wisconsinites in Washington. I’m excited to stand with him today.”
Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes said:
“I am honored to have the endorsement of Senator Johnson and Representative Doyle. I’ve worked with LaTonya and Steve on the frontlines of the fight to deliver good jobs, affordable health care, and an economy that works for every Wisconsinite. This campaign is a continuation of that work.
“We’re building a grassroots movement of people from every corner of the state to defeat Ron Johnson and create opportunities in every community across Wisconsin. I’m so proud to have LaTonya and Steve on our team.”
The endorsements from Sen. Johnson and Rep. Doyle come as Mandela Barnes continues to build a diverse, statewide coalition to defeat Ron Johnson and deliver for Wisconsin working families. They join Senator Elizabeth Warren, Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi, mayors, legislators, and local elected officials from across Wisconsin, End Citizen’s United, Collective PAC, Democracy for America, MoveOn, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, the Working Families Party, People for the American Way, and the Democratic Lieutenant Governor’s Association in their endorsement of Barnes.
