MADISON — Today, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) endorsed Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes and his historic candidacy for the U.S. Senate in Wisconsin.
Senator Elizabeth Warren said:
“I am so proud to endorse Mandela Barnes for United States Senate today. Mandela has been a tireless advocate for people all across Wisconsin, and he’s the best candidate to defeat Ron Johnson and flip this seat in November.”
“Growing up in a proud union family, Mandela knows that to rebuild the middle class we need to change the game in Washington. In the Senate, we will work together to root out the corruption and special interest influence that delivers handouts to the wealthiest people and largest corporations while leaving working people and small businesses behind.
“The Senate race in Wisconsin is crucial. With Mandela Barnes fighting alongside me in the Senate, we have a real opportunity to build an economy that works for all of us, strengthen and protect our democracy, expand health care, and tackle the climate crisis head-on.”
Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes said:
“I am honored to have the support of Senator Elizabeth Warren.
“We’re building a historic movement in every corner of Wisconsin, and Senator Warren’s endorsement is a testament to the hard work we’re doing to bring people together and build an economy that works for everyone.
“For too many Wisconsinites, the doors of opportunity have been closed for too long. In Washington, I’ll work with Sen. Warren to change that by building up middle-class families, rooting out corruption and special interest influence, and ensuring that wealthy people and corporations are paying their fair share.”
Senator Warren’s endorsement comes as Mandela Barnes continues to build a diverse, statewide coalition to defeat Ron Johnson and deliver for Wisconsin working families. Senator Warren joins Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi, mayors, legislators, and local elected officials from across Wisconsin, Collective PAC, Democracy for America, MoveOn, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, the Working Families Party, People for the American Way, and the Democratic Lieutenant Governor’s Association in their endorsement of Barnes.
