Primary and general election polling shows Mandela Barnes is in a strong position to flip Wisconsin’s Senate seat in 2022

MADISON – Today, Mandela Barnes’ campaign for U.S. Senate released new polling that shows that Lt. Gov. Barnes is in a strong position to beat Ron Johnson in 2022.

One week after polling showed Barnes leading the rest of the Democratic field by 29-points, this new poll makes a clear case that Barnes is the Democrat who will defeat Ron Johnson in 2022. Barnes runs even with Johnson in a head-to-head general election matchup (43-43).

The poll also finds that Barnes is the most liked candidate in the field, with a statewide net favorability rating of +2, while all other candidates tested, including Ron Johnson and other Democratic candidates, have net negative favorability ratings.

“Mandela Barnes is the candidate who can defeat Ron Johnson and deliver real results for working families. Mandela is building a winning coalition in every corner of Wisconsin because he is laser-focused on the issues that matter most to working people across the state, and this poll reflects that. Wisconsinites know they can trust Mandela to invest in Wisconsin jobs and infrastructure, make good healthcare a reality for all, safeguard reproductive freedom and our democracy, and tackle the climate crisis head-on,” said Barnes campaign manager Kory Kozloski.

The poll, conducted by Clarity Campaign Labs, surveyed 756 likely Wisconsin general election voters from September 8 – September 11. The results have a margin of error of +/- 3.6%.
