Milwaukee, WI – Aisha Carr earned 2,001 votes, 58% of votes cast, winning MPS District 4’s school board race.

Reflecting on her victory, Aisha said, “I want to thank all of my supporters, all of my family members, youth organizers, and all the community members who came out and supported me. I’ve been focused on youth leadership development and education my entire life, so your support, your validation, and your faith mean the world to me. This campaign was led by 36 of my youth organizers and I am so proud of each one of them. Thank you to everyone who knocked doors in the bitter cold, talked to voters even on chilly, rainy days, and everyone who stood by me through this campaign. It was a tough battle but one that was worth every second”

Aisha continued, “District 4 chose experience, they chose vision, they took a chance on someone new, and they chose real policy solutions in this election. Our focus is now to enhance communication, transparency, and accessibility for the MPS School Board. Simultaneously, we need to swiftly implement systems to support the academic and social-emotional well-being of MPS students as they catch up after this difficult year. I am proud to offer our district plans, and I am ready to deliver results. Most importantly, I am proud to serve alongside students, parents, and community members”

Aisha concluded, “To everyone who disagreed with me on some of the issues, I want you to know that I am ready to work with you and I am ready to listen to you. I am ready to build bridges to make sure our children and communities have the best education and best schools possible.”

Aisha Carr will be sworn in on April 26th with her youth organizers by her side.
