MADISON, Wisc. – Chairman John Macco (R-Ledgeview) and Vice-Chair Robert Wittke (R-Wind Point) released the following statement regarding the tax proposal announced today by former Governor Scott Walker.

“As Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means, it has been our ultimate goal to create a fair, low and simple tax code in the state of Wisconsin. The tax proposal announced by former Governor Scott Walker offers another set of ideas to consider.

This year alone we passed an historic $3.2 billion tax cut to Wisconsin families and businesses. We also collapsed two income tax brackets which lays the foundation for bold discussion on Wisconsin tax reform.

We agree, in Wisconsin we need to move away from taxing wealth creation and penalizing the success of Wisconsinites. We look forward to discussing these bold initiatives.”
