Nikki Conklin, candidate for Madison Common Council District 9, has the endorsement of both former Common Council District 9 candidates Nino Amato and Doug Hyant, her campaign announced Thursday.

Amato, Hyant, and Conklin ran in this spring’s four-way primary election for the office currently held by incumbent Paul Skidmore for the last 20 years. Conklin and Skidmore advanced onto the spring election to be held on April 6.

Hyant and Amato share Conklin’s goal of bringing better communication and representation to District 9. Amato stated “Without question, Nikki is committed to engaging 9th District residents, in finding practical solutions to the multitude of problems facing our city and neighborhoods.”

“I am endorsing Nikki Conklin because she will be the thoughtful and responsive Alder our district deserves. We need a new voice representing our district, and Nikki’s leadership in our community will help her be a force on the Madison Common Council from her first day in office,” said Doug Hyant. “I hope you’ll join me and vote for Nikki Conklin for District 9.”

Conklin has also received endorsements from Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, 3 State Representatives, 13 current and former Madison Common Council alders and three major labor unions: AFSCME PEOPLE, South Central Federation of Labor (SCFL), and Teaching Assistants’ Association (TAA).

She has also earned the sole endorsement of Dane Dems (Democratic Party of Dane County), Progressive Dane, Our Wisconsin Revolution, and has been endorsed by several other individuals and organizations.
