GLENDALE, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking public comments on a proposed Green Tier application for Brady Corporation’s (Brady Corp.) Glendale, Wisconsin facility. If accepted, the application would allow Brady Corp. to join Tier 1 of the Green Tier program. The proposal covers activities at their manufacturing facility located on 2230 W. Florist Ave in Glendale.

The DNR’s voluntary Green Tier program empowers organizations that are on the path to sustainability by helping them use a systematic approach to minimize environmental risk. Green Tier offers three options for participation. Participants can be individual entities, like a single business, or groups, such as related businesses or organizations with common goals.

Tier 1 of the Green Tier Program is designed to encourage, recognize and reward companies that are committed to superior environmental performance. Applicants must have a good environmental record and agree to implement an environmental management system, which will be used to set goals, assess their progress and identify opportunities for improvement. Participants must have that system audited on a regular basis, and set goals and objectives aimed towards maintaining superior environmental performance. The DNR welcomes comments from Brady Corp.’s customers, neighbors and stakeholders through July 23, 2021.

Brady Corp. manufactures safety, identification and compliance solutions, including signage, labels and printers for organizations to improve their productivity and performance of meeting all safety and environmental regulations. Brady Corp. has facilities around the globe and is committed to environmentally friendly and sustainable initiatives worldwide.

“Brady Corp. has long been committed to environmental stewardship in the communities where we have a presence, and our hometown sites in Wisconsin are no exception,” said Tom DeBruine, Director of North American Operations for Brady Corp. “Sustainability efforts play an integral role in Brady’s day-to-day operations, including focusing on energy efficiency, recycling, as well as hazardous waste and air emissions reductions.”

Prior to their Tier 1 application, Brady Corp. implemented an environmental management system that is certified to the ISO 14001 standard. In addition, they have previously invested in HVAC upgrades, compressor leak controls and lighting improvements. Future goals include continued upgrades for HVAC systems and large-scale lighting improvements in addition to projects with an emphasis on hazardous waste/air emission reductions and energy /water conservation.

The DNR will accept written comments until July 23, 2021. Please direct comments to Weston Wegener at weston.wegener@wisconsin.gov or 608-284-0908.
