Madison, WI – Tuesday Governor Tony Evers’ Department of Corrections (DOC) challenged data provided by AFSCME Local Council 32 about the conditions at Lincoln Hills prison for juvenile offenders. Translation? The union is lying.

In response to Empower Wisconsin’s report about the alarming rise in violence at Lincoln Hills under Tony Evers, the DOC issued a statement to CBS 58 in Milwaukee saying,
“The information in the report didn’t match publicly available data.”
The data was provided by AFSCME Local 32 in the form of testimony to the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee and in a union petition to the Evers’ administration.  The union said it pulled the data for DOC’s tracking system.
Rather than addressing the worsening conditions at Lincoln Hills, the Evers Administration is working to discredit the union representing the frontline corrections workers who confront these dangerous conditions everyday.
The AFSCME data (below) compares incidents for the first and last six months of 2020.
