MILWAUKEE— Sachin Chheda, director at the Fair Elections Project, issued the following statement in response to the People’s Maps Commission draft maps released Thursday evening:

“We applaud the open, fair, and transparent process the People’s Maps Commission has engaged in thus far. Thanks to Governor Evers, the people of Wisconsin finally have a say in their map-drawing process, and we encourage Wisconsinites to give their feedback on these maps.

“The draft maps drawn by the PMC reflect communities of interest across Wisconsin, as well as this state’s racial, ethnic, and geographic diversity. We hope Speaker Vos and Leader Lemahieu will listen to the voices of the vast majority of Wisconsinites, who want the legislature to take up these independently drawn maps.”
