Milwaukee, WI – Beginning at 12:30 PM on October 2nd, Freedom Road Socialist Organization will be hosting a rally against Texas’ unconstitutional ban of abortion. This event is also being co-sponsored by Milwaukee Alliance Against Racial and Poltical Repression and Students for a Democratic Society – UWM.
On May 19th, 2021 Governor Greg Abbott signed into law one of the strictest abortion policies in the nation, banning abortions as early as 6 weeks. Included in this bill is the ability for private citizens to sue women who get the abortions as well as those who may have helped provide it.
The organizations involved will be holding a joint rally in defense of the people who’s right to bodily autonomy is being gravely restricted.
The rally will be held directly in front of Senator Ron Johnson’s office, on Wisconsin Avenue, across the street from the Northern Trust Bank. It will include speakers from Students for a Democratic Society – UWM, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, and Milwaukee Alliance Against Racial and Political Repression.
We, and many others, stand resolutely against this law and any other law, now or in the future, that harms and targets our oppressed communities.
