Today, former small business owner and State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski was endorsed by Wisconsin environmental leader Tia Nelson. Tia is also serving as the campaign’s Treasurer to help Sarah build a statewide grassroots campaign to take down Ron Johnson.

Tia made local and national headlines in 2015 over her battle against Republican officials to combat climate change while she served as Executive Secretary to the Wisconsin Board of Commissioners of Public Lands. She resigned from the post after Republican officials instituted a gag order to prevent her office from even considering environmental impacts.

Tia is the daughter of former Wisconsin Senator and Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson. She currently works as the Climate Advisor at the Outrider Foundation and formerly served as Director of the Global Climate Change Initiative at the Nature Conservancy, where she worked for 17 years.

“I’m super excited to be endorsing Sarah Godlewski for the United States Senate,” said environmental leader Tia Nelson. “Sarah embodies the progressive values that were imbued in me by my mother and my father: a commitment to honorable public service, a commitment to civility in public discourse, a commitment to conservation and to everyone’s right to breathe clean air and drink clean water. I couldn’t be more excited than to be on Team Sarah!”

“Building a better, cleaner Wisconsin is Tia’s life mission, and she’s never let anything or any politician get in her way. Her support in this fight means so much to me as a friend and to our people-powered campaign,” said State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski. “Right now, we have a Senator in Ron Johnson who denies that climate change even exists, and our kids and our economy are paying for it. I’m going to change that. It’s high-time for Washington to follow sound science and put its full backing behind a clean energy economy and a climate-equitable future.”
