Former Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. Endorses Sarah Godlewski for U.S. Senate

“Sarah is honest, hard-working and cannot be bought.”

Ashwaubenon, WI – Former Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. – the author of our nation’s historic No Discrimination in Health Insurance Act – today endorsed Wisconsin State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski for U.S. Senate.

“I know Sarah well. She is honest, hard-working and cannot be bought – just like everyone here in Northeast Wisconsin. Sarah also has the most important quality necessary to serve our best interests: good judgment. Without hesitation, I am proud to endorse her campaign for Positive Change and a New Direction for Wisconsin and our beloved United States of America,” Dr. Kagen said.

“Sarah has stepped up time and again when NE Wisconsin schools and small businesses needed help, expanding economic opportunities in rural areas and big cities alike. She has succeeded in building a community-powered campaign to defeat the losing ideas of our current U.S. Senator. I fully endorse Sarah Godlewski for U.S. Senate.”

“I’m proud to have Congressman Kagen’s support.  He’s a proven fighter for working families who knows what it takes to win tough elections, and knows what the people in northeast Wisconsin want in their leaders and representatives,” said State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski. “During Ron Johnson’s disastrous decade in office, northeast Wisconsin has faced unprecedented hardships – from paper mill closures, to farm bankruptcies, to small business struggles, to diminishing health care options. Instead of prioritizing conspiracy theories, I’ll fight to preserve our farming and manufacturing traditions, and ensure that our workers and families always come first.”

Sarah has earned the support of 40 current and former elected officials and progressive leaders across Wisconsin. Sarah has a record of electoral strength. In 2018, Sarah outperformed nearly every statewide Democrat in the 8th District, receiving more votes than Governor Tony Evers and Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes in Brown, Calumet, Door, Kewaunee, Marinette, Oconto, Outagamie and Winnebago counties.

Former U.S. Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. is a nationally respected Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Specialist, and preeminent Democratic leader in NE Wisconsin who represented the battleground 8th Congressional District from 2007 – 2011.
