“The announcement made yesterday by Gov. Tony Evers is welcome news for thousands of landlords and tenants throughout Wisconsin. The investment of $322 million for the Wisconsin Emergency Rental Assistance Program will make an immediate impact in helping families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic downturn. Efforts like these can mean the difference between a feeling of safety in one’s home and the feeling of economic insecurity brought on by this pandemic. Our coalition strongly urges those tenants who qualify for this emergency relief to apply as soon as possible. We also encourage property owners to continue working with their tenants to ensure communication lines are open and available to help renters in need, as well as make sure that rent ultimately gets paid so property owners are able to continue providing property to lease.”
