Joint Finance approves money for DNR body-worn cameras, trail aids for off-road vehicles

The state would boost aid to maintain trails for off-road vehicles, help cover the costs of boating safety enforcement and buy body-worn cameras for DNR wardens under a GOP motion the Joint Finance Committee approved 12-4 along party lines.
Rep. Amy Loudenbeck, R-Clinton, said many of the provisions in the GOP motion mirrored calls from Gov. Tony Evers in his budget, but sought to fund them in a more responsible way.
For example, Evers had called for using funds from the fish and wildlife account to create an ongoing appropriation for the restoration of the Pierce County Islands Wildlife Area....
