WAUSAU, WI — Local Parents Group, Keeping Wausau Kids Safe & Parents Informed, is a group of hundreds of local parents and community members concerned about ensuring the health and safety of Wausau students, staff and community. As the highly contagious Delta variant results in increased cases locally, parents have emailed and called the Wausau School Board and District Administrator Keith Hilts with questions and concerns. While many constituents do not receive responses, those constituents who do receive responses don’t receive actual answers to the genuine substantive questions asked. Failing to receive meaningful answers, the group placed an ad in the local City Pages September 9, 2021 edition.
“District communication has been unclear and ambiguous and the school board refuses to address pandemic instruction, even as cases are reported in the first few days of instruction,” said the group in a formal statement. “The Wausau School Board and district administration must stop playing politics with our children’s health and safety and be accountable to their constituents. We deserve real answers to our questions so we can make the right decisions for our children.”
