CALEDONIA, WI – Dr. Deborah Kerr, candidate for Wisconsin State Superintendent of Public Instruction, issued the following statement after having been voted to advance through the primary election to the general election for Wisconsin State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

“I am truly honored by the support we received in today’s primary election. Voters from across Wisconsin heard our message and they said the same: ‘There is no room for politics in education.’

“From the start of this campaign, I said that I was going to bring everyone to the table to advocate for every child. Throughout the campaign we had Democrats, Republicans, and Independents join our broad coalition to make this possible. Tonight’s results show that Wisconsin is ready to move forward and create a world-class education system.

“Making it through a primary in a seven-way race was hard work, but we were able to make it happen because of you and your continued belief in our collective future.

“Your belief that all sides can, indeed, work together and fight for a higher quality of education for our children is what drove us to this moment. Whether our campaign was visiting Eau Claire, Green Bay, Wausau, or anywhere else the road would take us, we continued to receive the same support to build our coalition even further.

“Together, we will safely reopen our schools, close achievement gaps, and advocate for every child, family, and guardian in Wisconsin.

“I’m thankful to my candidate colleagues who stepped up to run and the conversations we were able to have with everyone in Wisconsin. I look forward to the race ahead and sharing this moment with Dr. Jill Underly. I hope to earn your trust and your support for the election on Tuesday, April 6.”
