Republican Rebecca Kleefisch raised more than $1.2 million in individual donations in the first 48 hours after officially launching her guv bid last week, her campaign says.

Kleefisch filed the paperwork to run for guv last month. But she formally launched her bid on Thursday.

The money raised is on top of the $189,984 Kleefisch still had at the end of June in her campaign account from her eight years as lieutenant governor.

The campaign didn’t release other details of the fundraising haul. Kleefisch released the numbers as other Republicans such as state Rep. John Macco, lobbyist Bill McCoshen and former U.S. Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson continue to weigh getting into the race.

Gov. Tony Evers reported $5 million raised during the first half of 2021, the last report he filed with the Ethics Commission. That included $3.1 million in individual donations and $7.3 million in the bank.
