MILWAUKEE – The Operating Engineers Local 139, the largest construction union in Wisconsin, announced their support for Alex Lasry for United States Senate today.

“The Operating Engineers are proud to endorse Alex Lasry to be the next U.S. Senator from Wisconsin,” Local 139 President Terry McGowan said. “We need Washington to focus on raising wages and creating good jobs – jobs can sustain our families and help rebuild our state. That will require two United States Senators working hard to deliver for Wisconsin.

“Alex has a proven record of supporting organized labor and providing opportunities for all workers. We saw his commitment firsthand through his work on the Fiserv Forum and the Deer District, truly partnering with organized labor to build a world class facility for the world champion Milwaukee Bucks.

“We have seen Alex get things done, keep his promises, and deliver results. That’s why we are proud to stand with Alex Lasry in this campaign. We need his leadership and perspective in Washington more than ever.”

Lasry has also been a vocal supporter of the PRO Act, a critical piece of federal legislation that would level the playing field for workers who want to join a union. On the campaign trail, Lasry has repeatedly stated that “if you’re pro-worker, you’re pro, PRO Act.”

“I am deeply grateful to have the support of the Operating Engineers,” said Alex Lasry. “We are building a large movement that has at its heart Wisconsin’s working people. It is a true honor to have the hard-working men and women of IUOE Local 139 with me in this fight to bring real change to Washington and deliver results for the people of our state.”

IUOE Local 139 is the fourth large Wisconsin union to endorse Lasry joining the Wisconsin Teamsters Joint Council 39, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 494, and The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 18.

The Democratic Primary Election for the United States Senate will be held Tuesday, August 9th, 2022. For more information about Alex Lasry and his campaign, visit www.alexlasry.com.
