Milwaukee – Wisconsin Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, Alex Lasry, made the following statement today in response to the announcement by Senator Joe Manchin that he will not be supporting the Build Back Better legislation that is currently pending in the US Senate:
“This is what happens with a government that’s full of career politicians who have lost sight of the needs of the people they represent. Our citizens need to have faith that their government is working for them. Voters want candidates focused on results, not just more empty rhetoric.
Washington DC looks like a real mess to the average voter right now with politicians like Ron Johnson spewing conspiracy theories and trying to destroy our democracy.
People in Wisconsin and across America need real help now. While we have seen real improvements in our economy, the pandemic has laid bare the real, systemic problems we need to solve. That’s what the Build Back Better framework was attempting to do, and if the Senate is not going to pass BBB, those problems must still be addressed.
This is why Democrats must expand their majority in the United States Senate to ensure that no one Senator can hold up an entire agenda, and that starts right here in Wisconsin. We need to beat Senator Ron Johnson and send Tammy Baldwin a real partner to get real results for Wisconsinites.”
The Democratic Primary Election for the United States Senate will be held Tuesday, August 9th, 2022. For more information about Alex Lasry’s campaign, visit www.alexlasry.com.
