DeForest, WI – The Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council today hailed the historic passage of
the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure framework by the United States House of
Representatives. This once-in-a-generation legislation will make new investments in the
construction of roads and bridges, broadband investment, and water infrastructure.
Members of the Wisconsin House delegation who voted for the infrastructure package
included Representative Mark Pocan (WI-02), Representative Ron Kind (WI-03), and
Representative Gwen Moore (WI-04).

“Thank you to Rep. Pocan, Rep. Kind, and Rep. Moore who voted to create good-paying and
family-supporting jobs building our state’s infrastructure,” said John Schmitt,
President/Business Manager of the Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council. “We are thankful
that the House has delivered these investments to create jobs and strengthen our economy.”

“Wisconsin Laborers have been leading the way advocating for the passage of the bipartisan infrastructure framework, with thousands of our members making calls, sending postcards, and emailing their members of Congress. This is not just a win for our union, but for all Americans who will benefit from safe roads, high-speed internet, and clean drinking water.”

The Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council is an affiliation of five Laborer local unions,
representing nearly 9,000 construction craft laborers throughout Wisconsin. The Laborers
are the most diverse trade in the construction industry servicing employers in transportation infrastructure, building, sewer and water, utility distribution, demolition, asbestos removal and related sectors.
