MADISON — Today, Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes blasted Senator Ron Johnson for saying yesterday that he hopes and prays for gridlock on negotiations over critical legislative packages to help Wisconsin working families.

Johnson has opposed the bipartisan infrastructure legislation, which he admitted he didn’t even read, and which would deliver thousands of jobs and billions in investment to Wisconsin. Now, Johnson is doubling down on his partisan obstructionism, openly encouraging gridlock that blocks progress on critical legislation.

WATCH: RON JOHNSON IS “PRAYING” FOR GRIDLOCK

“Ron Johnson has spent his career in Washington as a cynical impediment to progress, and now he’s cheerleading against critical aid for Wisconsin families,” said Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes. “Wisconsin families need leadership that is actually interested in addressing critical problems, from tackling climate change, to investing in our infrastructure, to creating good-paying jobs and opportunity in every Wisconsin community. Ron Johnson has made it clear he’s not interested in helping our families, that’s why he couldn’t be bothered to read the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and it’s why he’s fighting to block the investments that Wisconsin families desperately need.”
