MILWAUKEE — Community leaders involved in the ThriveOn Collaboration to redevelop the former Gimbels-Schuster’s department store on King Drive in Milwaukee will be featured guests in an upcoming virtual “On the Issues with Mike Gousha,” Thursday, Sept. 9.

The discussion will be streamed live beginning at 12:15 p.m. Registration to watch the event live is available on the Marquette Law School website and is open until Wednesday, Sept. 8, at noon. An archive of the event will be available on the Marquette Law School YouTube channel.

The ThriveOn Collaboration was established by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Royal Capital Group. Leaders from each organization and the community will discuss the new investment on Milwaukee’s north side, an area that until recently had experienced decades of disinvestment. The project will see the former Gimbels-Schuster’s department store redeveloped as the new home of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and also housing MCW’s community engagement programs. Working with neighborhood groups, the partners worked to identify key community priorities and will make strategic investments in the health, equity and economic well-being of people, beginning with the neighborhoods adjacent to the new development.

Guests for this event will be Ken Robertson, executive vice president of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation; Greg Wesley, senior vice president of the Medical College of Wisconsin; Kevin Newell, president of Royal Capital Group; and Lennie Mosley, neighborhood leader and a member of the ThriveOn Collaboration’s community advisory council.

The virtual “On the Issues” is available to the general public.

Through public programming such as the Marquette Law School Poll, debates featuring candidates in significant political races, Gousha’s “On the Issues” conversations with newsmakers, public lectures by leading scholars, conferences on issues of public significance, and the work of its Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, Marquette Law School serves as the region’s leading venue for civil discourse about law and public policy matters.
