Menomonie, WI — Today, former State Assemblyman Dana Wachs announced his endorsement of Deb McGrath for Wisconsin’s third Congressional district.  Dana Wachs is a lifelong Eau Claire resident, formerly represented Eau Claire in the Wisconsin State Assembly until 2019, and understands how important it is to elect leaders like Deb who are focused on common sense solutions. The endorsement comes on the heels of the campaign announcing Deb raised more than $100,000 in the first 24 hours of launching her bid for Congress, and signals the strong momentum already building behind her campaign.

“I’ve known Deb for many years,” said former State Assemblyman Dana Wachs. “She has the grit, determination, and intelligence to do the right thing for the people of Wisconsin’s Third District. Western Wisconsinites can count on Deb and her expertise from her 25-year career in public service, to take on the tough challenges facing our working families, small businesses, and farmers.”

“I am honored to receive an endorsement from my friend Dana Wachs, who has been a fierce advocate for Western Wisconsinites,” said Deb McGrath. “Like Dana, I know the challenges Western Wisconsinites face every day and I am committed to delivering affordable health care, basic infrastructure, and economic opportunity to the people of this great region.”

About Deb McGrath

Born and raised in Western Wisconsin, Deb McGrath is a former Army Captain, CIA officer, and working mother of three children. She and her husband, COL (Ret) Kevin McGrath, raised their three children with an emphasis on public and community service. Deb’s father is the late Congressman Al Baldus and her mother, Lolly, served in education for over 20 years. Both of her parents came from farm families. Deb grew up listening to the concerns of those in her community.

Deb McGrath served 25 years in national security positions requiring non-partisan strategies for mission accomplishment. McGrath will fight for issues that keep America strong: affordable and accessible healthcare, economic opportunity, thoughtful infrastructure investments, clear voting rights, and respect for human rights. She will advocate to bring broadband to all communities in Wisconsin, as this is critical for the economic success of families, small businesses and farms.

Deb is a rational thinker who will tackle these issues with common sense and collaboration.

While in the U.S. Army, Deb McGrath served in the demilitarized zone in Korea and at several U.S. military bases. In the CIA, her assignments included Southeast and South Asia, West Africa, the former Soviet Union, and Central Europe, including two combat zones. She was awarded parachutist wings, the overseas ribbon, the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal, and the CIA Career Medal, among several other awards.

WI-03 is a competitive seat that may determine the partisan majority in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022. The current Congressman, Democrat Ron Kind, won the district by 4 points in 2020.
