Menomonie, WI—Today, VoteVets wholeheartedly endorsed Deb McGrath, a former Army Captain, CIA officer, and candidate for Congress in Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional district. McGrath was the only woman in her Airborne Training Course and one of few women to serve on the Demilitarized Zone in the early 80s. VoteVets is the largest progressive group of veterans in America.

“With so many external threats from abroad and at home, we need someone with Deb’s experience in the military and security, as a credible voice in Congress,” said Will Fischer, Iraq War Veteran and Senior Advisor for VoteVets. “Deb knows what it takes to keep America and Wisconsin families safe. But, more so, she’s been deeply involved in the kitchen table issues that families face, and knows what it will take to keep our families strong, as well. We’re proud to endorse her.”

“I have proudly lived a life of service to my country, and am humbled that VoteVets has recognized my leadership and candidacy,” said Deb McGrath. “As an officer and military spouse, I know that service means sacrifice for our country. I will continue to honor the oath I took to defend our Constitution and support our Veterans. While serving our country abroad, I saw firsthand how democracies can thrive or fall depending on their responsiveness to community needs like affordable health care, economic security, and voting rights. I am a staunch advocate for these issues and ensuring all Western Wisconsin families have a fair shot, and I am thrilled to have the support of VoteVets in my campaign for Congress.”

The announcement comes the same day that Deb McGrath was endorsed by former candidate for US Senate and Ret. US Marine Corps Lt. Col. Amy McGrath and her organization Honor Bound, which aims to support women with a service background to run for office.
