Today I had the pleasure of joining Governor Tony Evers, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee as they announced how a recently awarded State grant of $3 million will be used to benefit local teens over the next three years.

This initiative – to be housed in the 6th Aldermanic District at The Ready Center, 1916 N. Vel R. Phillips Ave. – will serve as a collaborative effort between the Boys & Girls Clubs, local businesses and other nonprofit agencies to provide teen workforce training and career development in the form of paid internships, apprenticeships, and more with the end goal of making sure teens graduate high school and have a career path ready for them.

The target of serving 10,000 teens over the next two plus years with this grant money is an ambitious goal, but one that I believe can be reached and will provide an invaluable level of support for our youth.

This partnership is a tremendous example of what we can accomplish when we come together as a community, and I want to extend a sincere thank you to all the partners involved. I look forward to what lies ahead in the coming years.
