MILWAUKEE, WI – The Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression will hold a rally this Saturday, November 6, 2021, in Red Arrow Park at 12:00PM. The rally is in support of Supervisor Ryan Clancy’s amendments to County Executive David Crowley’s County Budget Proposal.

The Milwaukee Alliance stands in support of Supervisor Clancy’s amendments because after various canvassing and community outreach efforts in Milwaukee’s north and south sides, it is clear that majority of residents do not want another increase to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office already bloated budget. People want vital community resources funded, not the police. Supervisor Clancy’s amendments take the county budget in the right direction that will prioritize the needs of our communities.

The County Board of Supervisors must put words into action when they meet on Monday, November 8. They have emphasized the importance of social and racial justice this budget season, but County Executive Crowley’s proposal would be detrimental to social and racial justice. It is time for the County Board of Supervisors to actually show its commitment to the people of Milwaukee with this budget by adopting Supervisor Clancy’s amendments.

The Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (MAARPR) campaigns against police crimes committed primarily against the poor and Black, Indigeneous, and people of color. We demand the creation of a civilian police accountability council, or CPAC, to ensure that our community is in direct control of our police force.
