MILWAUKEE – For the latest installment of her “Chat with the Chairwoman” series, County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson will lead an engaging conversation Thursday evening, March 25, on racism, colorism, and erasure, and the intersection of these topics with the theme of National Women’s Month, “Valiant Women of the Vote: Refusing to Be Silenced.”

Chairwoman Nicholson will be joined by Wisconsin State Senator LaTonya Johnson, Public Allies Milwaukee Program Director of Ally and Alumni Experience Shavonda Sisson and LGBTQ Health Equity Advocate and Educator Elle “Halo” Hill.

Women—and Black women in particular—are routinely overlooked, silenced, and discounted in both personal and professional settings. Examples range from the fact that women’s sports receive only 2-4% of the coverage that men’s sports receive to women being talked over even on their way to the highest of elected offices. Erasure even happens right here in Milwaukee.

Chairwoman Nicholson and her guests will discuss these topics and more at Thursday evening’s “Chat with the Chairwoman,” which can be streamed on Facebook Live.
