MILWAUKEE – Earnell Lucas, Milwaukee County Sheriff and candidate for mayor of Milwaukee, today issued the following statement regarding the Republican National Committee’s inquiry into holding their 2024 convention in Milwaukee:
“Over the past few years, Milwaukee has demonstrated its ability to host major events in our city. Coming off the Milwaukee Bucks capturing the NBA World Championship, we have shown our city has the foundation and support of the business community, government officials and the people of Milwaukee to successfully host major events.
“Milwaukee is truly becoming a destination city for conventions, businesses relocating and cultural attractions. I am confident that Visit Milwaukee CEO Peggy Williams-Smith and her team will thoroughly review the Republican National Committee Request for Proposal and gauge interests from city and civic leaders and determine what is in the best interest of our city.”
