MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee Democratic Socialists of America (Milwaukee DSA) has endorsed Darrin Madison Jr. in his candidacy for the 10th district seat on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. His endorsement completes the slate of three Milwaukee DSA candidates for the February 16th primary and April 6th general elections.
“Darrin is a young leader with over a decade of proven activism on behalf of the issues affecting our communities,” DSA member and community organizer Rick Banks said. “He also understands the systemic causes of those issues and will continue to work tirelessly to address them on the County Board.”
“Darrin Madison Jr. will be transformational. From youth justice reform to senior centers, he has a clear, bold, and informed vision for change. As importantly, Madison Jr. also possesses the integrity to resist compromising his values which inform these stances. I look forward to pushing for progress alongside him,” said Ryan Clancy, DSA member and 4th District County Supervisor.
The vote followed a rigorous vetting process; Madison Jr. carried the DSA’s general membership with an unprecedented 96% of the votes cast. Madison Jr. joins DSA endorsed candidates Dana Kelley, running for the Milwaukee Public School Board District 4, and Alex Brower in MPS District 5. When elected, Kelley and Madison Jr. will be the first Socialists of color elected in Milwaukee.
“I’m excited to work with Milwaukee DSA to make bold decisions and to fight for the residents of the 10th District,” said Madison Jr. “We share a belief that working families and our most vulnerable community members, such as older adults, youth, and people with disabilities have a right to equitable housing, effective County services, and effective leadership. We also share the belief when it comes to the solutions to our problems, that the people who are most affected are the closest ones to the solutions. I’m committed to bringing research-based solutions to the County Board on behalf of the people!”
The Milwaukee Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) works to build on the legacy of the Sewer Socialism that helped to build Milwaukee. DSA is committed to politics that will radically transform Milwaukee, shifting power to the people.
