MILWAUKEE (March 1, 2021) — Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) Superintendent Dr. Keith P. Posley issued the following statement in regard to MPS staff COVID-19 vaccinations:
“Milwaukee Public Schools is pleased that the Wisconsin Department of Health Services’ distribution plan identifies educators and child care staff as groups eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine beginning today. We have already received positive feedback from staff who have eagerly awaited eligibility and access to the vaccine.
“In collaboration with the Milwaukee Health Department, our employees may receive the vaccine at the Wisconsin Center Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. In addition to the Wisconsin Center location, we designated March 9 & 10 from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. at North Division High School and March 11 & 12 from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. at South Division.
“The personnel of Milwaukee Public Schools make up a large portion of the workforce in the city of Milwaukee. Therefore, we thought it was necessary to operate dedicated locations exclusively for MPS staff. Staff may also receive vaccinations from healthcare providers and local pharmacies.
“The district remains committed to our Roadmap to Readiness plan, pending board approval later this month. As the vaccines are being distributed, we continue to encourage the entire community to practice safe and healthy habits as we navigate the current state of this pandemic.”
