MADISON – Steven Olikara, a Brookfield, Wisconsin native, entrepreneur, and nonprofit leader running for the U.S. Senate has been endorsed by the former judge and civil rights leader Paul Higginbotham.

Out of Higginbotham’s nearly 50 years in Wisconsin, he is best known for his groundbreaking service as the first African American Circuit Court Judge in Wisconsin. He also served as the City of Madison’s Municipal Judge, Dane County Executive Richard J. Phelps’ Minority Affairs Coordinator, and as Acting Executive Director of the Madison Equal Opportunities Commission. Higginbotham was a member of the faculty of the University of Wisconsin Law School, his alma mater.

“Steven Olikara is the right person at the right time to serve as Wisconsin’s next U.S. Senator. Steven has demonstrated a deep and abiding commitment to bringing people together from diverse political and cultural backgrounds to solve this country’s most serious problems. Wisconsin needs a U.S. Senator who believes that integrity in politics is worth fighting for. It is my pleasure to endorse Steven Olikara as Wisconsin’s next United States Senator,” says Higginbotham.

“I’m deeply grateful to have the endorsement of such an esteemed member of our community. A history-making leader in Wisconsin, Judge Higginbotham represents public service at its best, and it is an honor to have his support in our campaign for the US Senate. I share his commitment to systemic change in criminal justice, campaign finance, and voting rights to ensure dignity for all in Wisconsin,” says U.S. Senate Candidate Steven Olikara.
