Rep. August released the following statement following Governor Evers veto of legislation aimed to address the state’s workforce shortage by ending the extra $300 per week payment for unemployment:
“While I am not surprised, I am disappointed that Governor Evers vetoed our commonsense legislation that would have helped our small businesses. The workforce shortage is real and it is a true crisis. Paying able-bodied adults a premium to sit at home is outrageous. We need to get people back to work and this veto will only add to the problems facing our small businesses.”
