GREEN BAY, WI – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today announced the military service academy appointments for the Class of 2025 from Wisconsin’s Eighth Congressional District. The appointments come after a highly competitive, rigorous application process in which students submitted materials to Rep. Gallagher’s office, interviewed with Rep. Gallagher’s Service Academy Advisory Board, received nominations, and were then accepted by the Academy of their choosing.
“The opportunity to help some of Northeast Wisconsin’s best and brightest attend military service academies is one of my favorite parts of this job,” said Rep. Gallagher. “Kiara, Stella, and Carter have proven themselves to be outstanding citizens, and I couldn’t be happier to announce they’ve each been admitted to service academies. I have no doubt these students will serve our country bravely and make our community proud.”
Those who received appointments are:
  • Kiara Lamb from Seymour High School, who was appointed to attend the U.S. Naval Academy.
  • Stella Kersebet from Gibraltar Schools, who was appointed to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy.
  • Carter Schmidt from Shawano High School, who was appointed to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy.

As a member of Congress, Rep. Gallagher can nominate high school students in his district to attend a service academy, including the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Rep. Gallagher had a total of 14 students from Northeast Wisconsin apply for a nomination to a military service academy this past year.
The application process for the Class of 2026 is now open. If students would like to be considered for a nomination, they should request an application from David Brooker by calling 920-301-4500.
