MADISON — Today the Department of Health Services announced the future groups that will be eligible for the Covid – 19 vaccine beginning March 1, 2021. The groups in priority order include education and child care, individuals enrolled in Medicaid long-term care programs, some public-facing essential workers, non-frontline health care essential personnel, and facility staff and residents in congregate living settings.

A more detailed list of eligible persons is available at:Wisconsin Department of Health Services: Priority Group 1b (COVID-19 Vaccine)

“As Covid -19 increasingly impacts our communities, I am happy to see that the vaccine schedule continues to focus on vulnerability and exposure risk. The Department of Health Services is closely following the recommendations of the State Disaster Medical Assistance Committee and considering thousands of public comments that have been submitted to them.

It is important to remember that as the federal government allocates more vaccine doses to Wisconsin, populations eligible for COVID-19 vaccination will continue to expand. DHS is working to get the COVID-19 vaccine to Wisconsinites as equitably, quickly, and safely as possible and for that I am grateful.

In the meantime, we should continue to keep each other safe by wearing a mask and maintaining physical distancing.”
