La Crosse, WI – Today, Rep. Ron Kind released the following statement regarding the announcement of an agreement between the United States and the European Union on the removal of Section 232 tariffs:

“Today’s announcement is a welcomed step to replacing the damaging tariffs imposed on some of our closest and most trusted allies while finally securing relief for Wisconsin’s farmers and manufacturers. We need better coordination with our allies on the challenges stemming from nonmarket economies like China, and I commend President Biden, Secretary Raimondo, and Ambassador Tai for taking this important step forward. I look forward to working with the Administration on further steps to address global overcapacity challenges.”

Rep. Kind serves on the Ways and Means Committee, the most powerful – and the oldest – committee in the House of Representatives. It has jurisdiction over tax measures, the management of public debt, trade and tariff laws, Social Security, Medicare, pensions, and many other economic growth measures.
