Madison… Representative John Macco (R-Ledgeview) released the following statement in response to Governor Evers’ State of the State Address earlier Tuesday night.
“The future of Wisconsin remains bright,” said Rep. Macco. “However, we have 10 years of responsible budgeting and tough decision making to thank for that. There remains plenty of work ahead to ensure that Wisconsin experiences a robust and complete recovery, and so far the Governor seems unwilling to work with the Legislature.”
“While the Governor laments over the need to bring the virus under control, it is his administration that was caught unprepared to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to those who want and need it,” said Rep. Macco. “Couple that with this administration’s complete mishandling of state unemployment claims, and it becomes clear that Governor Evers would rather play politics than work together in service to Wisconsin.”
“I sincerely hope the Governor is more willing to work with the Legislature as we begin the process of crafting a state budget,” said Rep. Macco. “We cannot afford to wait on the Governor when he decides to walk away from negotiations, as he has for the last several months. Now is the time for unity and bi-partisanship. That is how we overcome the challenges facing Wisconsin.”
