MADISON – State Representative Mark Spreitzer (D-Beloit) released the following statement after the election of Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) as Assembly Democratic Leader and Rep. Kalan Haywood (D-Milwaukee) as Assistant Democratic Leader:
“Today, Assembly Democrats elected new leaders to help our caucus grow stronger. I want to congratulate Rep. Greta Neubauer on her election as our next Assembly Democratic Leader, and Rep. Kalan Haywood on his election as our next Assistant Democratic Leader. I am confident that they will both make excellent leaders for the caucus, helping to advance our shared Democratic values and standing up to Republican divisiveness.
“Rep. Neubauer is an organizer at heart who will use her skills to bring our caucus together as we fight to address climate change, advocate for working families, and make Wisconsin a more equitable place to live. Rep. Neubauer has proven that she can take on Republicans while serving on the Joint Committee on Finance, where she centered the voices and interests of Wisconsinites.
“Rep. Haywood has been a powerful force since his election in 2018, and has been steadfast in his commitment to advancing housing equity and to serving his constituents. His service in Assembly Democratic leadership has been essential to our caucus, and he will build on this experience to help create a unifying message that resonates with Wisconsinites.
“Additionally, I’m thankful for all of my colleagues who showed their dedication to our caucus by putting themselves forward as candidates for leadership. Our caucus is stronger because of your hard work and commitment.
“I look forward to seeing Rep. Neubauer and Rep. Haywood move our caucus forward, and I am proud to continue working with my Democratic colleagues to put Wisconsinites first.”
