MADISON – Rep. Tip McGuire made the following statement on the Assembly GOP’s legislation package, which was passed in the Assembly today:
“After hundreds of days of inaction, the Assembly GOP revealed their COVID-19 legislation. Remarkably absent from this legislation is funding for testing and tracing to stop the spread of COVID-19. The package also has no financial assistance for our small businesses, no help for our Healthcare Heroes, nor child care assistance for working families.
“In the face of these glaring shortcomings, the Assembly GOP has declared this legislation a ‘compromise,’ despite the fact that it does not have the support of the Governor, Assembly Democrats, Senate Democrats, nor reportedly the Senate GOP.”
