MADISON – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) made the following remarks after Governor Evers vetoed his bill to protect babies born alive during botched abortions:
“Governor Evers made his position clear today that a life not wanted is a life worth wasting. Sadly, I’m not surprised considering he’s publicly stated before that defending our most vulnerable isn’t a “productive use of time.”
“In other circumstances, babies born alive during operations are given life-saving care: Why should this change during an abortion? It shouldn’t. Despite our governor’s radical ideologies, I will never stop fighting against this injustice to protect those who cannot protect themselves.”
