Madison, Wis – Rep. Rob Swearingen (R-Rhinelander) and Rep. Calvin Callahan (R-Tomahawk) released the following statement regarding their invitation to the Joint Committee on Finance to host a public hearing at Rhinelander School District’s Hodag Dome.

“I am very pleased that the Joint Committee on Finance accepted our invitation to hold a public hearing in my hometown of Rhinelander. The hardworking taxpayers of the 34th Assembly District will have the opportunity to see their elected officials in person and give a local perspective directly to the legislators on the biennial budget. I am confident that this will help the members of the Joint Committee on Finance draft a budget that is reflective of the constituents of the Northwoods,” said Rep. Swearginen.

The public hearing will be hosted by Rhinelander School District at the newly built Hodag Dome on April 21 at 10:00 AM. The Hodag Dome is an ideal location to host a public hearing as it provides plenty of space to socially distance and take proper COVID-19 preventative measures to ensure a safe experience for all attendees.

“I was glad to see the Joint Committee on Finance choose Rhinelander as one of the locations to hear the public’s priorities for the 2021-2023 State Budget,” said Rep. Callahan. Oftentimes, the Northwoods can be overlooked in Madison, so I’m glad to see my legislative colleagues make their way up North to hear concerns from the communities here. The Hodag Dome will allow for COVID-19 protocols to be followed, so everyone will be able to stay safe during the event.”

The Joint Committee on Finance will host several more public hearings throughout the state. Click here to view the different locations.
