State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt released the following statement regarding the Fabick v. Evers State Supreme Court opinion:

“I wholeheartedly agree with the decision by the Supreme Court today. The governor was exerting illegal executive authority upon the citizens of Wisconsin and I am glad that the Supreme Court sided with the constitution and struck down the emergency order. I only wish that our state had not been forced to wait for months for an answer to such a clear statutory issue.

However, I am still concerned that such a simple constitutional case had three dissenting justices. The Supreme Court has ruled correctly, and this is a strong message sent to Governor Evers that no single individual can exert emergency powers for an unlimited length of time.
