Madison – Wisconsin State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt (R-Fond du Lac) honored
Deputy Derek Rehfeldt from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office today as the
recipient of the First Responder of the Year Award for the 52nd Assembly District.

Deputy Rehfeldt selflessly rescued two men and a dog from a house that was engulfed in
flames and smoke prior to the volunteer fire departments arrival (WBAY Article).
Representative Thiesfeldt releases the following statement:

“Today is a special day in the State Assembly and in Wisconsin as we show appreciation
to the men and women who risk their lives to protect our community. Wisconsin has
outstanding first responders, and in 52nd District we some of the bravest men and women.
Today it is important to recognize Deputy Rehfeldt for his service to the community and
his selfless actions on September 24th”

The State Assembly as whole is recognizing a first responder from each respective
district for National First Responder Day, which is on October 28th, 2021.
