MADISON – Tonight, Governor Tony Evers delivered the 2021-2023 State Budget address, introducing his proposed 2021-2023 Biennial State Budget. Representative Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) issued the following statement in response:

“In tonight’s budget address, Governor Evers outlined the Badger Bounceback agenda — his recommendations for the 2021-2023 Wisconsin State Budget. This budget comes at a critical point in our state as we are still reeling, 11 months later, from this public health and economic crisis.

“I appreciate the proposals Governor Evers announced to invest in our public education system, to provide crucial mental health resources to our kids and communities, to reform our criminal justice system, to combat climate change, and to support small businesses in economic recovery. A budget is a moral document, and reflects our values. We have an obligation to the people of Wisconsin to make investments that better their lives and livelihoods.

“I look forward to discussing this budget proposal over the next several months, and passing a budget that reflects and addresses what the people of Wisconsin truly need. We must find common ground for the common good, and move forward together.”
