State officials, including individuals from the Evers Administration and the Department of Public Instruction, will attend the 60th Anniversary Celebration of Yahara Valley Elementary School, announced State Rep. Don Vruwink.

The celebration will be held 4-7 pm on Sunday, Sept. 19 on the school grounds, 8643 N. Raymond Rd, Edgerton. Yahara Valley is part of the Edgerton School District.

“Sunday will be an opportunity to celebrate rural schools, re-unite with alumni, and thank everyone who helped donated to support the school’s new outdoor classroom,” Vruwink said.

Yahara Valley consolidated four one-room school houses: Eagle, Lineau, Miller, and Stevens. The school was founded in 1960, but the 60th anniversary celebration was delayed a year due to the covid pandemic.

Yahara alum Dan Reilly will provide live music. A picnic lunch will be served, featuring alum Dave Wheeler’s famous pork barbeque sandwiches.

The outdoor classroom will be dedicated at 6 pm. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs.
