MADISON – Senate Minority Leader Janet Bewley (D-Mason) announced today the appointment of Shauntay Nelson to the Wisconsin Ethics Commission.
“Diversity is our strength, and I am happy to appoint Shauntay, who brings a wide breadth of experience, cultural perspective and integrity to the commission,” said Sen. Bewley. “I am confident that the commission will benefit greatly from her membership. Shauntay’s dedication to the good of all will serve the people of Wisconsin well and enhance our democracy”.
Nelson is a graduate of Cardinal Stritch University, who currently serves as the Wisconsin State Director for All Voting is Local, an organization that fights to eliminate needless and discriminatory barriers to voting; the focus being to help build a democracy that works for everyone. She also co-sponsors a statewide coalition in democracy reform and is a sought-after speaker and panelist, including being selected as one of the TEDx Talk speakers with Marquette University during their 2019 Community Engagement Symposium. She has worked to train other people around policy in Wisconsin, the roles and responsibilities of elected officials, and how to convey effective public narrative when speaking with elected officials.
Nelson’s appointment will be effective June 1, 2021.
