MADISON – This afternoon, Representative Greta Neubauer was elected as the next Assembly Minority Leader. Representative Kalan Haywood was elected as the Assistant Minority Leader. Senate Minority Leader Janet Bewley released the following statement:

“Congratulations to the new Assembly Minority Leader, Representative Greta Neubauer and Assistant Minority Leader, Representative Haywood. It is a great testament to their dedication to our state that they were given this vote of confidence by their colleagues.

I would also like to say thank you to Representative Gordon Hintz and Representative Dianne Hesselbein for their leadership in the tumultuous last few years. While COVID-19 does not care about people, they both have shown just how much they do. Thank you for your dedication and perseverance.

Representative Neubauer is correct that the next year will be integral for the Democratic Party and all of Wisconsin. With the support of Governor Evers and the people of our state, I am optimistic about many of our policy goals. From the preservation of our abundant and healthy natural resources to the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, I believe that there are common-sense solutions that we can find together.

I am excited to get to work with Representative Neubauer and Representative Haywood to enact the Democratic legislative agenda and move Wisconsin toward a brighter future for all. Let’s get to work!”
