The state budget, crafted by legislative Republicans falls short of meeting the state’s needs and I oppose it. I hope that Governor Evers uses his veto pen to improve the budget for Wisconsin families.

The tax provisions in the budget are heavily weighted in favor of the wealthy.  Seventy-five percent of the tax cut will go to those who make more than $125,000 a year.

This budget fails our public schools. The Republicans are so consumed with opposing Governor Evers that they are taking their frustrations out on school kids. Their obsession with the Governor is bad for kids, bad for schools and bad for Wisconsin.

Furthermore, the budget fails to provide resources to clean-up forever chemicals that are polluting our greatest natural resource, fresh water, and fails to fix the Dark Store tax loophole.

And once again, the Republicans have failed to accept Medicaid expansion, which would bring $1.6 billion dollars of federal money back to the state and provide quality and affordable health care for 90,000 people in Wisconsin. Instead, Wisconsin will be one of only 11 states that subsidizes the health care coverage in states that have expanded Medicaid.

At the end of the day, Republican chose tax cuts for the rich and polluted water over Wisconsin families.
